The work of a translator goes beyond converting some words to another language. It is to create a language that in itself is an experience for the recipient. To be effective, the translator’s decisions must be linked to emotions. They must understand social and cultural norms and through this, create a connection with any person in the world. This work is not easy. But there are some who even have a more difficult job: translating in order to save lives. Yes, you read it right!
Translators without Borders is a non-profit organization offering language and translation support for humanitarian and development agencies, and other non-profit organizations on a global scale. They provide people access to vital knowledge in their language by providing aid in humanitarian crisis response through translation and interpreting and raising awareness globally of language barriers.
This holiday season TWB wants to make a difference by sharing stories that show how language matters and how you can give the gift of life-saving words. Every donation to this campaign will have an impact, such as providing Ebola prevention information or the prevention of women trafficking, especially in Latin America.
Here at BeatBabel we feel deeply compelled by the work that this organization does, and we feel obligated to help them reach their goals and impact more people.
