LINGUISTIC QUALITY ASSURANCE - INTERNSHIP

As an intern, you will get to work on specific projects under the supervision and mentorship of a dedicated manager, which will help us grow and you develop. You will be working in a fast-moving business and have the opportunity to make valuable contributions while developing your skills and experience. Our internships offer extensive opportunities for professional development and experience in localization. And hands-on exposure to many industry tools.

As a part time QA specialist, you will be asked to review translated content and must be able to identify errors, fix them, help with file post-production and deliver reviewed files of the highest quality. You will be available to work 12 to 16 hours a week on average to start, usually Tuesday through Friday during our working hours (8am to 6pm PST). Hours can be flexible based on school schedule and project requirements. More hours in June/July for the right candidate.

Internship Dates:

Approximately March 13th through August 1st (end date can be flexible)

What you will be doing

  • Perform in-house Linguistic Quality Assurance on Chinese and other languages as needed

  • Perform some editing work in Simplified Chinese as needed

  • Perform production work in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator) or other DTP tools (Storyline or Premiere)

  • Maintain glossary adherence for Chinese projects

  • Support project manager on project related tasks – project coordination, postproduction steps

What we look for in our interns?

  • Master's degree student or recent Master's graduate of localization, translation or linguistics

  • Fluent communication skills of written and spoken English.

  • Fluent in Chinese (can write fluently in Simplified Chinese and have perfect knowledge of SPG for projects released in China). Native speakers required.

  • Good computer skills and proficiency in MS Office – PowerPoint, Word and Excel on PC

  • Proficient in translation memory tools (Trados Studio experience a plus) 

  • A positive and curious attitude 

  • Highly organized with attention to detail

Bonus Requirements: 

  • Previous translation or QA experience a plus

  • Experience with Desktop Publishing programs (InDesign, Illustrator, Premiere etc.) a plus

This is a paid internship hourly position ($16 to $20 based on experience). Some flexibility in start and end date. More hours are expected June through July. Translation, Localization or Linguistic students encouraged to apply.

You must be legally allowed to work in the United States. OPT and CPT through school OK. No work visa sponsorships. Remote options possible for the right candidate. Might be asked to come to our office in San Diego at some point during internship.
