Simona is an Italian translator who hails from Cagliari, Italy. She has been living in the United Kingdom for the past few years to keep current with the English languages and she loves it there. However, her favorite city in the world is London, because of its cosmopolitanism, and she has a soft spot for New York City as well. She came to know the BeatBabel peeps before there was even a BeatBabel to speak of, and in regards to their working relationship, she says “The team is friendly, very helpful and responsive and all projects are nice!”

Translator is her dream job. She wanted to be one ever since she was a kid. She started translating professionally once she graduated from her Master’s degree in Translation and Interpretation. When asked what sets her apart from other translators, she refers to her thoroughness, her commitment to keep up to speed with the latest technologies and her avidness to read a lot on the subject matters she translates. She loves to think that what she is writing will be widely read and used by people.

I love the idea that what I’m writing is going to be read and used by others.

Through her work, she has been able to make many great colleagues, especially foreign-language lovers like herself. She disagrees with the idea that a good translator is invisible, for she thinks a good translator can be seen in the quality of their translations. When asked about a project that she’s especially proud of, the pro-bono website translation she did for ‘The World Swim Against Malaria’ comes to mind.

She’s definitely an active person! Her biggest passions outside of translation are dance and running. She dances flamenco and pole dancing, and also practices yoga and runs marathons.
