Rodolfo was born in a small town in Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Besides his mother tongue, Portuguese, he also speaks English, Spanish, and a little bit of French. After moving around quite a bit, from big cities to small towns, he finally settled down in Bom Jardim de Minas (meaning Good Garden of Minas), a tranquil town in the Mantiqueira Mountains.

The Mantiqueira Mountains are a large and beautiful mountain range in Southeastern Brazil. With a peak at 9,180 ft (2798 m), they are one of the largest ranges in Latin America. The name “Mantiqueira” derives from a Tupi word meaning "mountains that cry", the tears of which became waterfalls and springs.
Rodolfo first began translating scientific articles and monographs during his scientific research on the sociocultural dimensions of language use. What first started as a necessary tool for his research soon turned into his livelihood. But the curiosity that marks the scientific mind is still a big part of why he enjoys translation, which exposes him to a diversity of source texts, allowing him to expand his knowledge on different topics. He also finds it satisfying to bridge cultures and nations with translation, and he volunteers for Translators without Borders in hope of putting his skills to the service of making the world a better place.
He agrees that a good translator is “invisible”. For him, an adept translator makes translation sound natural, fluent, and “less translated”, so that readers feel as though the text was originally written in their own language. However, he does believe translators bring their own tone and style to the text, making it more attractive and communicating better with the target language readers.
For Rodolfo, being a translator gives him the flexibility he needs. He can work anywhere with internet access and spend time with his son, his wife, his family, and of course, his lovely dogs. On the weekends, he enjoys hiking, trekking, mountain biking, bird watching and listening to music. Working with BeatBabel also contributes to his great experience as a translator. Rodolfo loves music. “Music is a kind of universal language”, he said, “and musicians can connect people by translating emotions and feelings into sounds!” If not being a translator, he would probably be communicating with the world through music. In fact, he played the piano and keyboards in a progressive rock band in the 2000′s, with whom he toured Brazil and Europe in 2006 and 2007.
